Gotham Got interesting again this week as a drug by the name of viper hit the streets. The Viper drug enables bone fibers and essentially makes the average everyday human super. As a street guitarist was given the drug and suddenly steals an atm machine from one of Gotham’s many convenience stores. The downside of the drug, if not taken frequently makes the person using melt into a pile of goo, due to no bone mass.
Detectives Gordon (Ben Mckenzie) and Bullock (Donal Logue) are hot on the case as such a drug on the streets is clearly a bad thing. Their investigation leads them to WellZyn, a subsidiary of Wayne enterprises. Taylor Reece (Margaret Colin) the head of the company is quick to dismiss the fact that the drug was manufactured at their plant, but evidence points in the direction of a former employee Stan Potolsky (Daniel London). Potolsky was let go from the project, which was originally headed by Thomas Wayne as a super soldier serum, but preliminary tests yield no results and Wayne shut it down. The Death of the Wayne’s is why the drug was synthesized yet again; Potolsky believed he had the correct equation this time, he was wrong yet again.
Meanwhile Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) has learned that his parents gifted acres of Arkham Asylum to the crime families as a way of doing business. Bruce disagrees with the practice and asks Alfred (Sean Pertwee) if its commonplace in the business world. Alfred tells him the unfortunate truth.
Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord-Taylor) assists Sal Maroni (David Zayas) in robbing one of Falcone’s (John Doman) casinos to “Mess with Him” and let him know that the Arkham land was just the beginning. Falcone on the other hand tells his higher ups that the point of the Arkham deal was go to give everyone a piece of it. Some of his LTs tell him that he needs to remind Maroni of place knowing that he thinks he won a great victory.
This afternoon news broke that Morena Baccarin will be joining the Gotham family as Dr Leslie Thomkins. This will be an interesting development as Arkham is the heart of this season’s story. Overall Viper wasn’t a bad episode it kept Gordon and Bullock busy while Maroni just showed everyone what a silly character he is. Falcone is clearly planning something big as he sits back and lets everyone do whatever is their agenda is.
